4. Clean up the images
To clean up the image, create a new layer first and rename it to clean up. Move towards the toolbar and click on the clone stamp tool. Go to setting and select soft edges for the brush. Keep the brush size as small as dust specks. Keep opacity 100%.
5. Clone the Images
To identify flaws, marks, and spots, zooming out the image is important. Select the clone stamp tool to apply. The mark which you want to remove, select the related area to that spot. Press the option or alt key to select the section to clean. Move your cursor over the mark or spot and press the tool down to clone that area. To remove flaws, the process will be repeated.
6. Apply Quick Mask
The more light-reflected areas that have marks are difficult to remove. For this, you should work on a quick mask tool. Hold the Q key on the keyboard or change to quick mask mode. Choose the brush tool for masking background and opacity should be 100%. Paint the mark-related area, if any error happens, use the eraser tool. Again press Q and preview the selected area. Move to ‘Layer via copy’ under the new layer menu and cut the masked area.
7. Reducing Dust Particles
To reduce the dust particles, choose the masked cutout. Go to medium under noise in the filter sub-menu of the layer menu. Blur the pixels by choosing the radius to 8px. Keep Layer opacity at 80%. Edit the layer by darkening the blending mode. The layer can be decreased if required.
8. Image Color replacement
The image background color must be evened out. Go to the Image menu and select replace color under adjustments. Choose the eyedropper tool and click on the darkest background area. To brighten up the dark area, drag up the lightness slider. You can also create a white background by zooming in the product image and review it if the white color blended perfectly in the background color.
9. Improving the color
To improve the color, move the cursor to the image menu, click on color balance under adjustments. Remove the arm tone of the image and convert it to blues as it is more visible. Use the color balance adjustment layer to do this. Enable the Preserve Luminosity and also adjust the sliders of mid-tones, highlights, and shadows. Review the results and change according to need.
10. Adjust Image Contrast and Flattening
Move your cursor to the shadows adjustment layer. To get the demanded contrast, drag the mid-tone contrast slider until you are not satisfied. Save this file layer as a .psd file for editing in the future. To flattening the image, go to a flatten image under the layer menu and apply it.
11. Sharpen the Image
Before saving the final product picture, sharpen it to get a good quality image and edge visibility. Go to the filter menu and click on the unsharp mask under sharpen. Keep the masking amount at 100% and threshold level 0. To get the best results, the radius should be slowly brought to 2.6px.
12. Resize the Image
Once all the retouching is completed, it’s time to resize the image. Image resizing is important for web use or print. Image resolution should be 300DPI or more for the good print results and should be less than 72DPI for website publication.
13. Save the retouched image
